The university leadership emphasised that this step reflects the guidance of His Eminence Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalai, representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, on the importance of keeping pace with scientific progress and advancing academic standards in line with the needs of both local and global labour markets.
The newly established departments include:
-
Department of Advertisement and Digital Marketing Communications – College of Media
-

-
Department of Behavioural Therapy and Autism Intervention Technologies – College of Modern Technologies
-
Department of Radiological and Nuclear Medicine Technologies – College of Modern Technologies

This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals. It advances Goal 4: Quality Education, by providing modern academic programmes and state-of-the-art laboratories that enhance higher education quality. It supports Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, by introducing medical and health-related specialisations that improve healthcare services in Iraq. It also contributes to Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by preparing graduates with advanced skills that enable them to integrate into the labour market and launch innovative projects.
The university confirmed that it has completed the necessary infrastructure and equipped scientific laboratories with the latest technologies, in addition to recruiting specialised faculty members, in preparation to welcome students for the 2025–2026 academic year.
